MABON RITUAL - THE PAGAN RITUALS

THE FIRST RITUAL

We were asked not to photograph or film the first ritual, which is unfortunate in many ways. We were very impressed with the first ritual, and wish we could share it with you.

There were at least 80 participants, and the thing that surprised all of us seeing a pagan ritual for the first time was how "normal" it was. The participants filed into the circle, protective energies were called, and the ritual progressed from there. It was a very positive event, and the tone of the ritual was not that different from most church services I have witnessed.

Afterwards, the participants went to Gaea Retreat's mess hall where they held a big pot luck feast. They seemed refreshed and energized by the ritual and everyone was very generous and happy. The whole night was really very enjoyable.

This photograph is of AvisMoon and Lord Pegasus, the Priestess and Priest that performed the first ritual. The Priestess represents the Goddess, while the Priest represents the God. This is really our only photograph from the first ritual and it was obviously not taken during the ritual itself.

THE SECOND RITUAL

The second ritual served two purposes. First, every participant in the second ritual signed releases for their faces to appear on our website, allowing us to photograph and film this ritual. Second, it allowed us a chance to compare our equipment readings from the first ritual to our equipment readings from the second ritual. Please see the Equipment Readings section of this investigation report for more details.

The tone and structure of this second ritual was very different than the first. This ritual was smaller, simpler, and appeared to be much more focused and emotionally charged. For the most part, I'm prepared to let these videos of the second ritual speak for themselves....

As someone on the outside of these rituals looking in, I feel comfortable saying that it appeared to be a very emotional and meaningful experience for those that participated in it. We can't stress enough how thankful we are to Lord Pegasus, AutumnWolf, AvisMoon, and all of the members of Kansas City's pagan community for allowing us to investigate and observe their Mabon rituals.
