The Ghost Vigil Key

When developing a symbol to represent Ghost Vigil Investigations, we really wanted to steer away from having a cartoon ghost, wearing a sheet with big round eyes. There's enough of that out there already! We wanted to choose something that could represent our mission and our goals...

THE KEY - Keys are powerful symbols. The fact that whomever holds the key can unlock treasures, secrets, or hidden items have given keys symbolic meaning.

In dream symbolism keys can often appear in guidance dreams, as they represent the solution to the problem at hand. Keys open doors (opportunities) of all kinds, and are often the means to achieving your desired goal. Keys can also represent a solution, a turning point, or discovering the key to a problem.

For each of our investigators, Ghost Vigil represents a chance to unlock the secrets of the paranormal. We seek answers...truthful answers...about the mysteries of life after death. Does some part of us persist after our physical form fails us? Can that surviving part of us manifest itself in someway in our world? For us, knowledge, research, and analysis are our Keys of Knowledge.

THE EYE - The eyes are the windows to the soul. They represent vision, observation, and gathering knowledge. Closed eyes represent closing yourself off to the truth...while wide open eyes represent being open to and seeking the truth.

Beginning with the Eye of Horus in ancient Egypt and continuing today with the All-Seeing Eye we we see on the U.S. one dollar bill, the eye is a powerful symbol of knowledge and awareness.
