Kimberly,

I think you are probably right. I would LOVE him to be there in full civil war gear, but it might distract a bit from the purpose of the evening. The next time we investigate a Civil War related site, we'll see if you guys can come (in full gear).

Thanks fo rthe invite, consider it a done deal for a future date. Either way, I told him that this is kind of our pre-trip education for when we go to Gettysburg in 2013 for the big anniversary. I would like to apply some of the knowledge learned for our trip out there.

I told him that it would probably be a no-can-do as this is meant to be more of an educational tour instead of a "let's run with an untested theory in what would could be classified as an education/investigation." I hope that sounds right to everyone the same way that I am thinking it.”

I was under the impression the 10-17-09 event at the Wornell house was an investigation that was scheduled after the ghost tours in March. I hope this is true because this is what I signed up for and have been counting the days until the investigation.

If I'm wrong, I hope someone will set me straight on this.

Tim,
I lost my instructions on posting quotes. If you can email that to me that would be greatly appreciated!

That's okay, I forget how to do some of the different formatting from time to time. I'm gonna post it here, Jimmy, so everyone can see it, just in case. There's actually a button for quoting. First, hit 'reply' to the post you want to quote. Second, you should see a gray box in which to write your text. Third, you should see four click boxes below the gray box. One says 'quote', followed by 'preview', 'submit' and 'cancel'. Choosing quote will put quote formatting on the entire post to which you tried to reply.

If you just want to format the quotes yourself, I'll have to show you without using the actual formatting code (because otherwise this post will just show the formatting and not the code to do it). It'll look like this without the extra spaces between the letters and symbols:

[ quote ] <----- This opens the quote format
blah, blah, blah <----- Quoted text goes here
[ / quote ] <----- This closes the quote format

Again, you have to remove the spaces, but the code is written exactly like that. Anything that is written between the opening code and the closing code will be contained in a black quote box.

Finally, another good trick for quoting, or learning how to do any type of formatting, is to find an existing post that contains the type of formatting you want to mimic. This works well for learning how to input URL code without having the address showing, or for images, or text formatting and color. First, make a mental note of what you want to mimic and where it is relative to adjacent parts of the post. Second, reply to that post. Then below the gray text box, select the 'quote' click box. Doing so should input the post you replied to into your gray text box, only now it's in quotes (which you can ignore if that's not the formatting your trying to learn). Scan the text looking for what you want to mimic (or, like I said, the parts adjacent to want you want to mimic, say, if it were an image you were interested in). Then, mimic the code surrounding that part of the text into your post as you see fit. Finally, make sure to hit the 'preview' click box to verify that your post turned out the way you wanted.

Viola! Hope this helps!

I'm not exactly sure what your question is Jimmy, but I'll give it a shot...

For those of you who have made reservations for the October Wornall House investigation with the Ghost Vigil staff (you know who you are), this applies to you. The October event you're concerned with, Jimmy, is an investigation but I think it would be appropriate to consider it an educational experience and investigation. And although I'm not completely sure of the exact details, I would think there would be aspects of both a limited tour and a full investigation during the event. Rest assured, though, the focus will be on the investigation.

It is definitely designed as a learning experience. All questions will be welcome and encouraged. That being said, we will provide information about the location and individual rooms as needed to conduct the investigation appropriately. Furthermore, any equipment that we provide for guest use will be accompanied by information on how to use the devices correctly. If guests bring their own equipment, we probably will be able to provide additional information about usage and data regarding those devices, too, if needed. Investigation techniques and strategies will be discussed and guests will be invited to join in. Nothing's mandatory, but I think guests will have a more satisfying experience if they fully participate.

As it comes closer in time to the event, I'll probably post some additional things about preparing for the investigation. If I don't, remind me!

Yes, that is the answer I wanted to hear and glad for getting it.

Hoping this QUOTE thing works for me but I’m a little challenged with all these new fangled gadgets and puter voodoo.

If it helps you to understand my lack of technological ignorance, I miss my 8-track!

Thanks for the info and next time you call me I’ll try not to act like the idiot you talked to before!

Tim's answer was spot-on.

There will be a walk-through of the location, which is something we normally do on investigation anyhow. And will discuss equipment briefly, and how we use it and interpret the results. And the investigation itself will be very structured, and extremely similar to how we would conduct an investigation normally.

Thanks for the help on posting quotes. It is greatly appreciated. Any chance you could give the rest of us techno dinosaurs a lesson in posting pics to the site as well for future reference?

By the way Jimmie, I believe that I may still have some of my parent's 8 tracks yet. No way to play them though.....
