Hey all,

Well, I can't seem to get in SciFi chat rooms. If anyone sees this and can post it on the chat rooms I'd be grateful.

Did anyone check to see what the atmospheric conditions were in the saintarium before hunting and during? Pressure, temperature, and dewpoint can all affect air circulation.

I think they were feeling cold air drainage in the body chute since they were at the bottom. A very common thing to occur as the air gets colder it sinks down hill. Many people refer to this as a mountain breeze in hilly terrain.

Also, since the building is made of concrete which retains heat, it is not unreasonable to get air circualtion that can be felt to the differential heating of the mortar during the day. This effect will diminish overnight as the bricks get closer to the same temperature will help to relax the pressure gradient.

Food for thought.

And yet, another screw up, that should be valley breeze. Mountain brezze is during the day. Man, you can tell it has been a looooooong day! I wish I could EDIT my posts.

If it makes you feel any better Shawn, I read all the way through it and didn't pick up on any of your spelling or grammar mistakes.

Interesting stuff you brought up.

Ya, sometimes I get to typing....well you know. Trying to watch the show and type at the same time...distracted I guess. Anyway, after watching most of the show, I have got to say that was one of THE worst episodes I have ever seen. Not because of the "lack" of activity per se, but just the atrocious attitude some members had toward the contestants, and that horrible distracting music! Jeez! Knock it off already...but the girls and Steve were very unprofessional in my perosonal opinion. Makes me rethink about watching the show. And those people emailing saying they were seeing faces on walls....come on!! No offense to anyone here, but the rods were a little over the top as well. Started to feel a little like that other show with Yvette. She couldn't even explain how they worked! So, how in the heck do you know how to use them! Paleeze!! Stick to the scientific method please, and stop the hocus pocus. That's what I appreciated about the show, but if that is the way it is going...yikes! Sorry for ranting, but I thought it was pretty bad.

Some interesting thoughts Shawn. I was only able to catch some of it before I had to go to work, how were Steve and the girls unprofessional? I know that it being live they all needed to be at their best but humor is also a way to release fears or nerves that you might feel at the moment. I am not saying one should goof off or acta fool while on a investigation. Like I said, I didnt catch all of it so I am really curious what they may have done.

I was not surprised at all at the amount of panic buttons or emails of people seeing things. Just because people are people... anytime you have something like this event you will have skeptics and those that think its all a joke and will hit the panic button just because they can. i am not a big fan of the live events but on the same note it was good to see one.

Hey, Shawn...sorry about not allowing edits. I've had trouble with allowing editing on other message boards I've managed, and as a rule I don't allow it. I had a guy go through a message board and delete all of his posts. Just edited them and left them all blank. EVERY-SINGLE conversation he had been involved in was jacked-up by this! People can make you crazy!

(O.K. Back on topic)

I thought the girls were rude the radio-guy contestant. They kept badgering him, and not letting him talk. Then they would sort of mockingly correct where he was pointing the camera, when it was clear he was flustered by all of their mean questions. It was over-the-top, but I thought it was just me that was thinking that! I'm glad to hear someone else noticed it. I didn't see what Steve did to their contestant...I was working on website stuff while watching, and must have just missed that.

Now, I thought the dousing rods were cheesy also. But TAPS used to feature a girl who used dowsing rods back in their first season as well. So, while the dousing rods aren't on there very often...hey have featured them throughout their television career. Its nothing new. That being said, we do not use dousing rods at Ghost Vigil. We've tried them...and we might try them again. But we don't regularly use them.

Those LIVE shows are so problematic. How do you keep it interesting? How do you focus on the group that is experiencing stuff? And because you can't edit a bunch of Jason, Grant, and Steve footage together...you have to focus more of the show on secondary TAPS members. Not that these members are less-important or less-skilled than Jason and Grant, but they are almost strangers to us in a way...because they get very little air-time on the edited/recorded shows.

Mark

Dousing Rods:
I've never used them in a ghost hunt, but have used them once.
At work, we had a light pole in the parking lot. We were trying to figure were the wire came in at. My boss made me a pair of dousing rods. I walked aroung the pole and sure enough, when I walked over where the wire was, the rods would turn inward. Nice tool.
Also, one time I was out at Elmwood Cemetery, a fella was out there using a dousing rod. He let me try it. Ever time I walked over a grave....the rods would cross inward.
I guess it works like an inductance meter.
I've also heard that in the old days, they'd use a forked piece of wood to find water to dig their wells. If you read alot about the old west...that's how they got water??!!
So there it some truth to this...but if your in an old building with wires and red iron....it'd be almost impossible to detect spirit energy.

The show...
I watched it up to 11:30 then recorded the rest. but at one point, Steve walked by a stair well. He stopped like he heard or felt something, then his voice got real tinny and echoie, then the camera got a visual disturbance. Steve said at that point, "I guess it was just a breeze". Did anyone catch that part?

Ted

I was busy with the rugrats so I taped the show. I have watched about the first 3 hours. THE MUSIC IS REALLY PISSING ME OFF! I can't hear crap because of the "spooky music" they are playing! UGH, sorry, anyway...

I haven't seen the part of Steve at the stair where his voice gets "echoie" (lol fun lil word) nor have I seen where they are rude to the contestants. I will try to watch the rest tonight for sure!

I do have to say...so far, it is reminding me of the English folks.... "what the bloody hell was that?"

I watched the first couple hours and taped the rest- I just finished up watching it, and yes I think the girls were definitely rude. They obviously did't like that guy, but there was no apparent reason for the way they acted, except that they seemed to insinuate for a moment that he was using it for a spring board to move his radio career to TV. Maybe they were jealous that he is already a public figure. If you think about it, it's illogical, in his area of the country he is already famous, if he wanted to be famous in TV, I'm sure there are more opportunities available to him, than stumbling around in the dark at three oclock in the morning! They really didn't seem to give him a fair chance.

I think the part that made Steve seem rude was the way he was talking about the candidates in general. (They haven't done any studying, they don't have a knowledge base etc. They just like to watch ghost hunters and so they think they should be on the Taps team... I'm sorry, wasn't that what the contest was all about?). I get that all of knowledge is important, but once I am a seasoned investigator, I hope I will still remember how it feels to be filled with the anticipation and excitement that I have right now. You don't know about all those other things until someone guides you, and learning about those things is a great part of the journey! All three of these people are NEW, that's the point! NEW shouldn't be a dirty word.

(Climbs down and puts soap box away),

That was only a small part of the entire show. I thought it was interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes out on the analysis. It is surprising that they get anything on their investigations though, with all the camera crews following them around all the time.

Do you think the part where they found that the ball had moved without anybody seeing it is going to turn out legitimate! And as far as the faces on the wall that people were reporting ,it is way to easy for your mind to imagine that one! Need a little more something than that. But I think it was more realistic to what your real investigations are like, the hours of watching and waiting, we just got to see the whole thing for a change.

Wow -didn't mean to go on so long!
