| Website : New Article in the Learning Center |
| Posted by Mark Stinson on 2008/6/16 22:16:23 (48 reads) |
In the case of an Intelligent Haunt, is consciousness a direct, 100% transfer, or survival, from its living source? Or do thoughts get jumbled and confused? Do memories get lost or wiped clean? Do emotions become uncontrollable or erratic? This article discusses the possibility that the transition from a living consciousness to a death-surviving consciousness may not always come without damage, loss, or degradation.

| Website : Two New Articles in the Learning Center |
| Posted by Mark Stinson on 2008/6/9 5:10:00 (74 reads) |
We've added two new articles to the Ghost Vigil Learning Center, and both of them are in the Debuning 101 sections.
Baby Monitors and Electronic Toys are both the subject of numerous paranormal reports from clients. But do experiences with these common household items necessarily mean your house is "haunted?" Read the articles, and decide for yourself. Mark |

| Membership : New Ghost Vigil Jackets |
| Posted by Mark Stinson on 2008/1/17 14:09:41 (416 reads) |
Well...for 2 years, we've steered clear of a lot of Ghost Vigil clothing. A couple of us have a GVI hat. A couple have GVI shirts. But really, when we go on investigations, we dress in street clothes. But with winter here, we decided to work on some GVI jackets. I mean...why not?

I chose a black Dickie jacket for mine...but other Ghost Vigil members can get whatever sort of jacket they like. I guess this is a left-over of our not wanting to have "uniforms" these past 2 years. Individuals can choose whatever jacket they want...and even change the thread colors on the embroidery... The embroidery looks a little lost on this XL jacket, but when the jacket is actually on a person, and rounded instead of flat, it looks perfect. What do you think? Mark |

| Website : Ghost Vigil Paranormal Library |
| Posted by Mark Stinson on 2008/1/12 4:46:32 (507 reads) |
I'm of the belief that most paranormal investigators and group believe that we are at the pinnacle of paranormal knowledge. After all...its 2008. How could we possibly know less than what they new in the 1900's...or even the 1800's?
But the fact of the matter, is that we are so distracted with photographic orbs (dust), and EVP's (amplified audio artifacts and background noise), and setting up our DVR camera systems...that we don't spend the time really learning and exploring our the theories behind paranormal phenomenon and manifestations.
And thus...the Ghost Vigil Paranormal Library. Here's the books available to you so far:
Quote:
Death and Its Mystery at the Moment of Death by Camille Flammarion, 1922
Enigmas of Psychical Research by James H. Hyslop, Ph.D, 1906
Experiments in Psychical Science by W.J. Crawford, 1919
Fact and Fable in Psychology by Joseph Jastrow, 1900
Human Personality and its Survival of Bodily Death by Frederic W. H. Myers, 1907
The Law of Psychic Phenomena Thomson Jay Hudson, Ph.D, 1908
The Psychic Riddle by Isaac K. Funk, 1907
Psychical Investigations by J. Arthur Hill, 1917
Researches in the Phenomena of Spiritualism (partial text) by William Crookes, 1874
The Shadow World by Hamlin Garland, 1908 These books are largely out-of-print, but represent the knowledge available at a time when it seemed like the whole world was caught up in Spiritualism and Psychical Experiments and Investigations. All of the books except one are there in their entirety. You can open them in your browser by going to the Library and clicking on them...or you can download them to your computer to read later. Should you read these books and take them as true, or correct? No. But the more you can read about the paranormal...the more theories and ideas about it you absorb, the better off you will be. If you find a book on-line that you think should be included in the [url=http://ghostvigil.com/modules/library/index.php] Ghost Vigil Paranormal Library, please post the URL of the book on our message board or e-mail it to me. Good luck! Mark Stinson voidpulp @ yahoo.com (remove the spaces) |

We use the term "Pareidolia" a lot on our website and in our investigation reports. It comes up almost whenever we are analyzing our evidence, whether its our photos, our video, or our audio.
CLICK HERE to read about Pareidolia, Matrixing, and Deduction...and the differences between the three terms. We've added photos to help you understand how Pareidolia works...so check out the article, and let us know what you think! Mark |

| Membership : New Reserve Investigator - Dustin Funk! |
| Posted by Mark Stinson on 2007/12/4 11:43:13 (503 reads) |
We rarely bring in new members, due to fairly low turn-over within our ranks. We're lucky to have the knowledgable and atable staff that we have! But occasionally, someone shows the right combination of dedication, activity, personality, and insight...that we feel comfortable welcoming them into the group as a Reserve Investigator.
And one such person is Dustin Funk. He has been active and intelligent on our message boards for months, checked out several public Ghost Vigil events and introduced himself, and did very well on and investigation on which we invited him along. So what more can we say, except...Welcome aboard, Dustin! Click Here to check out his profile. Mark |

| Membership : Why We Don't Accept Membership Applications |
| Posted by Mark Stinson on 2007/12/4 11:40:00 (532 reads) |
We don't accept applications for Ghost Vigil membership any longer, and haven't for about a year now. With most investigations numbering 6 to 10 investigators and an established and stable staff of 10 or more people already in place, you can only accept 2 or 3 new investigators a year (depending on turn-over.) But we were getting 2 to 3 applications a week generating a lot of needless work for us...and a lot of disappointment for the applicants.
Ghost Vigil Investigations is not a club. We don't even have regular meetings! Everything we do it aimed at investigating the paranormal and helping people afflicted with the paranormal. So we can't absorb more members or investigators than serves that purpose. We once climbed to 25 investigators, and it was unwieldy and administratively a mess.
So when people ask to become a part of Ghost Vigil, I always tell them the same thing:
Quote: (applicant's name),
We aren't taking applications for new investigators at this time, and we rarely have investigations large enough to where we can take guests along with us. But if you go to the ghostvigil.com message board, to the "Tools of the Trade" forum, and then click on the top string, called, "Personal Equipment Suggestions," you'll find a pretty good guide to how to get started yourself. There are three books we recommend people read, and they are all listed in that string. Actually to make that easier, here's the link to that string:
http://ghostvigil.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=466&forum=17
And if you'll register on our website, post any questions you have on the message board. The message board is a vital active place, and we'd love you to be a part of it! While we aren't accepting new members, we have absorbed a couple of new members who we found to be active and insightful on our message board. Thanks for your interest. I hope to see you on our message boards!
Mark Stinson http://www.ghostvigil.com Now some people read this response, and go away never-to-return. I don't understand this. If they were so interested in the paranormal and specifically Ghost Vigil, then why would they just go away? Others become active on the board, begin collecting equipment of their own, and appear to be working towards conducting their own investigations or starting their own group. And others are so active and insightful on our message board, and then later in person...that we invite them to become Reserve Investigators. But, even then we can't take every active and insightful person on our message board into our group. There just isn't room for everyone. I'm posting this just so people will understand some of the reasoning behind our membership policy and how membership decisions are made. Its hard. We wish we could say "Yes" to more new members, but there just isn't room. Thanks! Mark Stinson |

| Website : Ghost Vigil Youths - A New GVI Program |
| Posted by Mark Stinson on 2007/11/14 18:24:09 (522 reads) |
Some would say its a bad idea to encourage young people to become interested in ghosts and the paranormal. But, young people are already interested in ghosts and the paranormal...they don't require any encouragement or pushing from us! Our goal with Ghost Vigil Youths is to provide grounded and credible resources and information to young people who are already interested in the paranormal. If they are going to investigate and dabble in the paranormal anyway, we'd rather they do it right...and in a way that prevents them from getting hurt or in trouble. Ghost Vigil Youths provides rules for safe investigations, suggestions for the kind of equipment to use, ways to identify natural causes for apparently paranormal events, sources of information for self-study, methods for exploring paranormal locations, ghosts in other cultures, famous hauntings, important ghosthunters in history, ghost jokes, really bad ghost crafts, and much more... Getting this program together was a lot of work, and took a lot of planning and thought. Please pass on the link to any young people you know who are interested in ghosts! Mark |

| Website : Catching Up on Investigation Summaries |
| Posted by Mark Stinson on 2007/11/7 22:55:40 (761 reads) |
We are behind, and we know it. Believe me, that we know it! We have been incredibly busy...and we've fallen behind on completing our investigation reports or summaries. But we've begun the process of catching up. Our first results?
Well, we've completed the Offutt House investigation report by completing the Strange Events section of that report.
If you'd like to see how much work we have to do to catch up...just visit the Our Investigations section of our website. There are two columns. One is labelled "Completed Reports" and the other is labelled "Catching up." Over time, you'll see one column shrink and the other grow!

She was a member of Miller's Paranormal and the Psychical Research Society of Kansas City. Ghost Quotes...
...five thousand years have now elapsed since the creation of the world, and still it is undecided whether...there has ever been an instance of the spirit of any person appearing after death. All argument is against it; but all belief is for it.
